Arrival and acquaintance
Arrival in Gauja national park and settling down in guest house. Safety briefing and acquaintance. Meeting the guide and checking equipment.
Guided cross country skiing tour
This will be a wonderful day on the ski through fairytail forests. You will see many animal paths and maybe some wildlife as well. This day provides beautiful diversity of nature and culture insights. Depending on weather conditions (in case of not enought snow) skiing tour may be replaced by guided MTB bicycle or trekking tour.
Guided snow shoes walking tour
You will discover and explore the places far beyond standard tourist paths. No worries even if the snow is more than 1m deep because you will use special snow shoes. Great insight into the beauty of Gauja national park in winter. In addition to great nature, you will enjoy local and traditional craftsmanship, because snow shoes you will use are made according to traditional methods from natural materials. In case of no snow you will enjoy guided walking or Nordic walking tour instead.
Guided wildlife watching tour
You will spend all of your day in few animal watching ambushes with hot herbal tea. If you are really patient and silent you will have a possibility to meet different kind of mammals like mooses, deer, lynx, beavers and many more.
Latvian wildlife is really diverse! Mammals are the most developed animal class with 63 species discovered in Latvia. Middle-sized and large terrestrial animals are well-known to people. In Latvia there are 4 species – Wild Boar, Elk, Red Deer and Roe.
Carnivores or predatory animals are mainly meat-eating animals, like cats but many of them are omnivores. For example, besides meat bears and martens eat a lot of plant food. In Latvia there are 14 species: Wolf, Lynx, Racoon Dog, Fox, Otter, Stone Marten, etc.
These are only some examples of animals possible to meet in Latvia, there are many more 🙂
Orienteering survival game with geocaching
As you already will be familiar with forests of Gauja national park, animals and techniques of cross country skiing or snow walking, you are ready for real survival adventure. We will give you survival backpack filled with all necessary equipment and GPS.
Following the legend you will find different nature and historical attractions on your trail through the deep forest on your own, with no assistance from our side.
You can always use RED ALERT option and you will be shortly evacuated from the trail even if you have not finished it yet.
Transfer back to airport or Riga
Visiting of Riga Old City with transfer to airport or direct transfer to airport (depending on flight time).
